Rotokare is one of about a dozen reserves in the country with predator proof fences in It takes just over an hour to walk round the lake and it's well worth it.

Walking shoes or light tramping/hiking boots required. The beginning of the lake edge track has approx. 700 m which is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

We really weren’t expecting to see any more Kiwi though, when we rounded another corner and there on the bank, right next to us, was a much smaller Kiwi. Truly amazing.

It is a 2 minute walk into town and is very close to cafes, a local 4 Square, Library and bus services. We are very close to the mountain and many walks.
